ST. ROGERS DEPOT

Personal History

When Steve Santamaria moved from Denver to El Paso in 2014, it didn’t take long for him to notice the neglected, century-old depot at 420 Campbell beside the I-10. For Steve, the building wasn’t just another historic structure in need of care—it was a symbol.

The depot instantly connected their past and their future, inspiring Steve & Isha to breathe new life into a landmark that now anchors their family’s story in the heart of El Paso. In 2006, the depot was on Preservation Texas’ list of Most Endangered Places. Linking the two halves of the building is a long, polished wood bar with tall lighted letters on the back wall spelling “El Paso.” It’s part of the sign that once stood atop the former El Paso Times and Herald Post building, which was demolished in the 1990s.
